In any case, the time limit is long enough that you can basically ignore it. I am pretty sure there is no limit in later patches for Fallout 1. I have seen it said so on multiple game guides, a reliable wiki (The Vault) and a few other places. I was making sure however. Sorry, you are right about the overall 500 day time limit. That limit was patched out in Fallout v1.1 apparently.

The initial 150 day limit for the water chip is still present, however. Since the GOG version of the game is already patched to v1.2 (UK version), the semi-official patch changes nothing about the time limits. The 13 year limit exists in Fallout 2 only.
